HEATH, OHIO –The Bionetics Corporation extended its lease with the Heath-Newark-Licking County Port Authority for office space at the Central Ohio Aerospace and Technology Center through September 2015 under a recently-signed lease extension. The five-year lease extension retains 29,000 sq. ft. of office space for the AFMETCAL Program at the Aerospace Center in Heath where they have been housed since 2000. The lease for the office building had been set to expire in September of this year.

Combined, AFMETCAL and Bionetics occupy over 100,000 sq. ft. at the Port Authority-owned Aerospace Center, including underground labs housing the Air Force Primary Standards Laboratory.

“During tough economic times, it’s particularly pleasing to signal positive economic news and job stability like a major lease signing does,” said Heath-Newark-Licking County Port Authority President and CEO Rick Platt. “The Port Authority is grateful for the chance to retain Bionetics and AFMETCAL as customers and prides itself on being able to fulfill its niche to provide high-tech office, lab, and clean room space in Central Ohio.”

This signing is the third of its kind in the 12 months for the Port Authority. In April, Goodrich agreed to a 16,000 sq. ft. lease in a new building currently under construction and expected to open in Second Quarter 2011 and The Boeing Company agreed to a five-year lease extension last August.
