The Port Authority's projects completed in 2011.


Sidewalk/Walkway Updates
COMPLETE

Layton Excavating completed a series of on-site sidewalk and walkway updates, including an extension of the on-site walking path on the East side to meet up with the Heath recreational trails, a rear access to the UPS building northeast of Building 4, addition of a recessed access to the Upper Parking Lot walkway, and extension of the walkway in front of the Metrology Building.


Monument Sign Project
COMPLETE

Construction of a monument sign identifying Goodrich as a tenant in the Horton Building was completed in late 2011. The sign was constructed by Claggett and Sons.


Pavement Repairs
COMPLETE

Minor pavement repairs around the campus fall of 2011 were completed in early November.


Truck Entrance Security Upgrade

COMPLETE

This project involved the installation of two new traffic control gates; two new pole mounted street lights and a parking spot for a security vehicle. Work on this project was done by Steve Salyer Electric and Calvin Access Controls.


Horton Building
COMPLETE

A contract was awarded May 2010 to Robertson Construction Services of Heath for construction of a combination office and clean room building totaling 43,461 sf. The design, by architect Wachtell & McAnally of Newark, consists of a two story brick structure and will include an 8,200 sf space for installation of up to five state-of-the-art clean rooms. The building has been designed to meet LEED standards for Shell and Core and is expected to be the first new commercial office building of its type in Central Licking County.


Horton Building-Clean Room

COMPLETE

Work was completed by Western Environmental Corporation for the first clean room being designed as a class 10,000 of approximately 1,000 sf. The space is operational and available for lease to prospective tenants now.


South Campus Storm Sewer
COMPLETE

This project is now completed. Work done by Layton Excavating included installing a storm sewer from the area North of Kaiser Drive to a point along James Parkway south of the railroad spur. The project further prepared developable sites for development along Kaiser Drive and modernizes the stormwater system along Kaiser Drive.


Security Fencing

COMPLETE

A&B Fencing of Newark has completed installation of fencing on the west side of the Aerospace Center's base campus. The fencing is the next phase of a series of security-related improvements designed to comply with homeland security standards.


Facility 85 Demolition

COMPLETE

Two pole barns at the Southeast corner of the Boeing building are were razed and the fence line relocated. The barns were used for cold storage of excess property prior to disposition and have exceeded their useful life. Work was done by Salyer Electric and A&B fence.


South Campus Tree Maintenance
COMPLETE

McCullough Tree Service has completed a winter work project to maintain a tree line along Kaiser Drive. The project saw wetlands protections and removal of debris and brush to promote healthy growth of the tree line. A certified Arborist was deployed on the project to ensure protection of the wetlands and preservation of the highest quality tree material.
